The McCormick Building
The old McCormick Building, which up into the 1980's,
kept the Harbor area in an aroma of spices that is still remembered to this day.
McCormick was one of the last of the industrial memories in the harbor area to move out,
with the Inner Harbor becoming a tourist destination.
Built in 1921. the House of McCormick was situated on the Baltimore harbor.
The nine story building was said to be the largest steel and concrete building south of New York.
The building was razed in 1987 and now the site is occupied by a parking lot.
Recently (2008), a developer has announced a project to build what is expected to be the tallest skyscraper in Baltimore,
a proposed 650-foot mixed-use tower, on the old McCormick building site.
